4  IMPORTANT NOTES:

DiamondTree Hardwood flooring must be delivered to the closed job site and placed in the area where it is to be installed at least 48 hours prior to installation. Product should be placed in Center of room to allow proper air flow. All boxes should be opened and the plastic should be cut away to allow the wood to acclimatize properly. Failure to follow this step will nullify and void all warranty claims. It is recommended that you mix numerous boxes and dry lay the flooring prior to starting installation to ensure a uniform looking floor when finished.

  1. The Installer must check each piece of flooring before installation, do not install any floors with visible defects, manufacturer declines to accept the claim for materials with visible defects once they are installed. Any flooring defects such as improper manufactured, finish problem, off grade should be reported to manufacturer or its distributor/dealer immediately.
  2. DiamondTree Wood floors are manufactured in accordance with accepted industry standards which allow a defect rate not exceeding 5%. A total of 5% should be added to all orders to allow for waste and cutting.
  3. It’s the responsibility of the installer to determine if the job site sub floor and job site conditions are environmentally acceptable for the installation of Wood floor. DiamondTree Hardwood declines any responsibility for failure resulting from or connected with sub floor, subsurface or job site damage, or deficiencies after flooring has been installed.
  4. The Manufacturer makes no warranty or guarantee of the quality of the chosen installer’s work or of a particular installation performed by them; manufacturer disclaims all liability for any errors or improprieties in the installation of its products by an installer.
  5. DiamondTree Hardwood Flooring must not come into contact with moisture, do not install flooring in humid areas, such as bathrooms or laundry rooms. Do not unload flooring during wet condition such as rain snow, sleet, etc. Moisture absorbed by the flooring boards will cause them to swell.
  6. DiamondTree Wood Flooring will continue to expand and contract during changing seasons. Some minor separation between boards might occur during the different seasons; this is normal and not a defect in the flooring. Relative Humidity in the area where the DiamondTree Hardwood is to be installed should be between 40% -60%.
  7. Prior to delivery of wood floorings and installation, job site evaluation should be done, all outside doors and windows be in place and have latching mechanisms surface drainage should direct water away from the building. All concrete, masonry, plastering, drywall, and other wet work should be completed and thoroughly dry. All texturing and painting primer coats should be completed. All works involving water or moisture should be completed. Flooring should be one of the last items installed at any new construction or remodeling project.
  8. Sub-floor’s must be checked for moisture content and compared to the actual DiamondTree Hardwood Flooring, there should not be a difference greater than 5% between the two, if there is, then installation is not to be started until problem is corrected.
< SUB-FLOOR requirements:
  1. Sub-floors must be clean, completely dry, flat and structurally sound, free of residues, squeaks and protruding fasteners. Secure
all loose areas of sub floor prior to installation. Sand and or plane any high spots, and fill any low area with a patch recommended by adhesive manufacturer. Sweep or vacuum the sub-floor thoroughly.
  2. Plywood or OSB of sub-floors moisture content should be 8-10% at the time of installation. The heating or air conditioner should be turned on to keep proper temperature; relative humidity should be maintained between 40 - 60% for at least one week before installation.
  3. Concrete Slab of sub-floor moisture content should be less than 12%. Concrete slab must be at least 90 days old before testing moisture content. The testing of moisture content of concrete slabs less than 60 days old can be inaccurate. The Calcium Chloride Test is recommended, but this test does not guarantee a dry slab.
  4. Preferred Sub floor materials: 3/4” CDX plywood sub floor / underlayment (Exposure 1), 4’ x 8’ sheets, or OSB (oriented stand board) sub floor / underlayment, with joist spacing 19.2” on center or less, Minimum 5/8” CDX Plywood sub floor / underlayment (Exposure 1), 4’ x 8’ sheets, max. 16” on center joist construction. Thinner Plywood or OSB sub-flooring may lack stiff and nail holding properties for good performance with wood flooring.
Minimum sub floor: 5/8” CDX plywood sub floor / underlayment (Exposure), 4’ x 8’ sheets, maximum 16” on center joist construction.
  5. Building with crawl space foundations should include a vapor/moisture barrier of 6 mil polyethylene sheets installed on the ground of the crawl space. This barrier will minimize the effect of moisture evaporating into the crawl space environment that can migrate through the sub-floor and into the wood floor. The crawl space must install at least two vents in order to have proper cross ventilation to avoid excessive moisture exists underneath the house.
  6. When the floors are glued directly to concrete slab of sub-floors, do not use a concrete sealer nor install over one, using the recommended adhesive and strictly follow adhesive manufacturer instructions and get the warranty from adhesive manufacturer.
  7. The contamination of the surface of floor caused by adhesive upon glued down installation, and improper use of stapler or saw tools to cause the damage of the finish of floor during installation are not within the warranty.
<   DiamondTree flooring can be installed by glued down, nailed or stapled down installation. General instructions for all types of installation:
  1. Ensure that wood has had time to properly acclimatize to area of installation for a minimum of 48 hours and that the difference in the sub-floor moisture and actual flooring moisture is under 5%.
  2. Always test Sub-floor for moisture according to moisture testing procedures, sub floor should be within the acceptable moisture content before installation.
  3. Sand and or plane any high spots, and fill any low areas with a patch recommended by adhesive manufacturer. Sweep or vacuum the sub-floor thoroughly.
  4. To prevent moisture penetration, a separate moisture barrier 4 to 6 mil polyethylene sheets laid between the ground and Sub-floor is required.
<Glued down applications:

Leave expansion space around the perimeter of the room and around all fixed objects to allow for contraction and expansion of the flooring. Typical expansion is equal to the thickness of the product installed. Snap a working line parallel to the starting wall, out approximately 3 feet, in multiples of the pattern width.
Use an adhesive recommended by the flooring manufacturer. Recommend Solvent based urethane adhesives: Dura Pro Purfloor UL2130 adhesive, Franklin 811, Stauf Ultra-Mastic PUM-950, Bostik’s Best. BST and EFT adhesive, Capital woody 600. Follow
the installation procedure recommended by the adhesive manufacturer including spread rate, trowel size, open time, working time, and flash time as necessary. Spread the adhesive as instructed up to and along the working line.
Use proper cleaners for the glue type selected to ensure that no glue or adhesive residue is left on the finished flooring after installation.

<Nailed or Staple Installations:

It is very important to ensure proper nail or staple size is being used for installation. DiamondTree Hardwood requires the use of 18 gauge 1/4” crown staples or nails with a minimum length of 1-1/4”. (Caution using nails or staples larger than 18 gauge can cause the tongues to split and under no circumstances will any resulting warranty claims be honored for the use of improper fasteners.) Be sure to prevent nail gun face plate, power saw tools from scratching the finish surface of flooring. Nailed down or staple every 8-10 inches along the longest edge of the boards, do not nail the short ends in place. Nails/Staples must be at least 2-4” from the ends of the flooring planks.
An expansion gap equal to the actual thickness of the product being installed is recommended and should be maintained from all walls or immoveable objects.
First row of flooring must be face nailed and blind angle nailed on the tongue side. Pre-drilling is recommended in order to avoid splitting of the face veneers and tongues of the flooring. The face nails should be covered by the finish trim.
Large Area installations
On larger area rooms it is recommended that you start in the centre of the room and work in both directions to reduce the floors movements. Simply find the centre of the room, securely fasten a straight edge along the centre line. Using a nailer / stapler securely fasten first row of flooring into place. Continue to install flooring in same direction until complete. Once this side is installed remove the straight edge completely.
To change the direction of the flooring, insert a false tongue by gluing it into the groove of the first row of installed boards, allow to dry. Place next row of flooring facing the new direction and nail into place. Repeat until the floor is finished.

<Care and Maintenance of DiamondTree Hardwood Flooring:

To help keep your Hardwood Flooring looking its best for years to come, follow these few tips.
Never clean your floor with water- Do not use any cleaner that must be mixed with water – Never use ammonia based products to clean your floor.
Place area mats at all entrance ways to reduce moisture and dirt being tracked onto the floors surface.
Exposure to sunlight will bring about minor changes in the color variations of your flooring; it is advisable to move your area rugs and other large furniture occasionally to minimize discoloration.
Vacuum and sweep your floor regularly using a soft bristled attachment, hard attachments may cause scratching in finished flooring.
Wipe up any all spills immediately.
Use soft felt pad protectors under all furniture. Some hard surface castors and some plastic / glass protectors may damage your floor. When moving larger furniture items or appliances, place a large heavy blanket or towel underneath to prevent scratches and dents.
The use of a woodstove, fireplace and electric heat can create a very dry environment in your home. Maintain an average relative humidity level of 40-60% annually and this will decrease the expansion and contraction of your flooring.

4  25 YEAR Residential / 5 Year Commercial Warranty:

The Manufacturer warrants to the original purchaser that, under normal residential conditions, the wear layer or overlay of the pre-finished flooring product in the original manufactured/ purchased condition will not wear through, crack, flake or peel or delaminate from the wood for a period of twenty five (25) years for residential applications and for a period of five (5) years for light commercial applications such as retail stores and offices from the date of purchase by the original purchaser. Warranty applies only to the original purchaser on products installed and used in accordance with the installation instructions. Installer or purchaser must inspect each board for any manufacturing defects; any board or piece installed in the flooring shall be considered as accepted. Regular maintenance as specified below must be followed in order to validate this warranty. This warranty does not cover labor costs or any other incidental expenses incurred as a result of a covered defect. The responsibility of “The Manufacturer” is limited, at their discretion, to replacing defective products or refunding the portion of the floor in question as covered under the warranty. Any attempt to repair, refinish or replace the defective product prior to inspection or by written authorization from the Manufacturer will invalidate the warranty. This warranty is not transferable. When making a claim original proof of purchase or a receipt is required. “The Manufacturer” reserves the right to substitute an alternative product of equal value in case the flooring type selected is no longer available.
<Warranty Exclusions:

A defect in the finish wear surface must be easily noticeable and cover an area of 2” square where there is wear through as seen from a standing position. Any variation or reduction in gloss level will not be considered under this warranty. Flooring is made from natural raw materials and as such has cells running parallel with the grain; therefore, all wood floors will expand and contract with the change of the seasons. The expanding and contracting is not covered under this warranty. It is recommended that the customer maintain a relative humidity level of 40-60% in the home by using a humidifier and/ or a dehumidifier to minimize movement of the flooring. Color variations are natural occurrence in wood flooring due to age, species and exposure to ultraviolet sunlight. For this reason, the customer may encounter mild color variations from board to board, or when replacing damaged boards with new product. Also, normal sunlight can cause fading / or darkening of the flooring depending on the species selected, ask your retailer for more information in this regard. Area rugs should be moved occasionally as they block sunlight and may give the appearance the floor is discoloring under or around the rug: this discoloration is not covered by the warranty.

<Warranty Inclusions:

Warranty shall include and be limited to, only defects arising from the defective manufacturing, premature surface wear or defects in the wood fiber. Should a valid claim arise all reimbursements, repairs, replacement or compensation is the sole discretion of “The Manufacturer”. Claims will only be administered if the above criteria have been met.
